Welcome to the Terrorism Web site. It is
here that you will find much of the information pertinent to your studies
in terrorism this Winter Term. You should begin by checking out the course
syllabus in order to understand the goals
and objectives of this senior history seminar, as well as the course requirements
and grading policies. Also, please visit the page for eJournals;
it is here that I will post the various entries due each week.
The Terrorism seminar will use two
relatively new textbooks
in 2006. The first book, entitled The 9/11 Commission Report, was recently published by the U.S. government after the completion of an exhaustive examination of the terrorist attacks in New York City and Washington, D.C. on September 11, 2001. The second book, Perspectives on Terrorism, is edited by Allan
J. Cigler. "The (20) articles selected for this book of readings
have been chosen with an eye toward helping readers reflect on how American
government and politics have been and will be affected by the events of
September 11." (Cigler 4)
Please follow the easy-to-use calendar
for noting the due dates of reading assignments, weekly ejournals, research
checkpoints, multi-media projects, research presentations, as well as
your mid-term exam, term paper, and final examination. The January, February
and March calendars will be revised and updated on a regular basis. Check
in often.
The resources for Terrorism are diverse
and divergent. Use the Web Resources to help
supplement the readings, begin your research, or prime your interest in
a particular area of study. The list is a work in progress and will continue
to grow throughout your course work during the term. Terrorism resources
are indexed via U.S. Government Sites, U.S. Government Reports, International
Organizations, Terrorism Information Organizations, Expert Opinions and
Links. Furthermore, you will find a series of PowerPoint
presentations on terrorist groups and individuals produced by previous
students.
